Enzo Joins Supper Club

For at least three years, we've gotten together with a group of friends monthly for Supper Club. Each person takes turn hosting and cooks up a great meal - except for Dave who usually orders out. Chris hosted at his home in Hollywood -- the meal was delish! And Enzo made his debut (see Jen holding him? I think he's smiling for the camera.)

Thanks, friends, for welcoming Enzo into the Supper Club. He can't wait to go to Jen's next month! Perhaps he'll do tricks by then -- at least something besides sleeping and eating!

Enzo meets Auntie Terry

So today was cousin Lauren's 3rd birthday. A lot of Enzo's blog fans were on hand to meet him in person.... Including his biggest fan Auntie Terry.

Alleluia! Alleluia!

After almost six weeks of hanging out at the house due to doctor's orders, with very rare outings, going to Church has been one of the highlights. Last week wasn't so great -- we made it to the homily when Enzo became hysterical. Clean diaper. Check. Full tummy. Check. Burped. Check. Bored? Maybe -- the homily wasn't that great. But Jeff missed the Father's Day blessing on all fathers because he was outside calming Enzo down. Boo.

We decided to brave it again this week, and we gained a lot of confidence. Enzo was a little angel. He was awake for part of Mass (and he took his paci like a champ!!) and then he dozed off like this little old man in the pew next to us. I had to pry him out of his seat for Communion and he didn't even stir.

The drive home was another story. Hysteria....

Hittin' the Bottle

So, today we opened up the Medela breast pump and took it on its maiden voyage. SUCCESS! (and a little ouch!) Jeff got the honor of giving Enzo his very first bottle - which he proceeded to guzzle in about 1 minute 30 seconds (2 oz.!) All that hard work disappeared so quickly! But he seemed to like it, so it's worth it, I guess.
Now, we don't have to be in Target or any other public establishment and have to run out to the car when Enzo decides he's hungry and becomes hysterical (which has been every two hours, give or take). Since he nurses for about 45 minutes, that means that by the time we're done, I have about an hour before he needs to be fed again. Making a mad dash to the grocery store just doesn't seem to be working, and I never get the timing quite right.
Perhaps taking a bottle with me with allow us all just a little more freedom.

Happy Father's Day

I qualified this year thanks to Enzo. As a extra special feature, we have added Baby Enzo TV featuring clips of Enzo. Also AJ chose the perfect gift for my first father's day. The first gift was a gift basket of all things with pop (soda pop, blow pop, pop tarts, pop rocks, pop corn, otter pops, corn pops, Giant lolli pop) and the perfect t-shirt set for me and my son. Some of you may know that Enzo has the more compact operating system with fewer glitches. He has the upgraded artificial intelligence module too. I am version 1.0 incase anyone is confused.

Aunt Amy and Uncle Steve visit Enzo

Today Aunt Amy and Uncle Steve stopped by to visit Enzo. Amy and Steve catered a wonderful lunch and we provided dessert from our plum, apricot, and fruit trees in bloom. We can't wait to see them again. Enzo told me that Amy and Steve are his favorite visitors from San Jose so far. Of course Aunt Amy could not resist trying AJ's magic shell belly cast.

We laughed, we cried

So today is Enzo's 1 Month Birthday. We celebrated with lots of Enzo smiles, baby yogurt, a few full diapers, and lots of tummy time
There were also alot of firsts today-- I wiped away Enzo's very first tear and I think I made him smile. No seriously, this wasn't the eyes flutter and he makes an expression like a smile (aka gas); this was a crooked, open-mouthed verifiable smile. Swear. I had grown worried last week when it occured to me that I had never seen a tear (has he been faking this whole time when he "cries?") and the research I did came back indicating that if he was four months old and didn't have tears to go and see the doc. Guess our little champ is ahead of the curve on this one, too.

Other accomplishments thus far:
Strong neck - his neck is so strong, we might take him to Muscle Beach in Venice to show those clowns what's up.

After Jeff took his pinky out of Enzo's mouth (the pinky that we refer to as the "mute button"), Enzo dutifully put his pinky into Jeff's mouth.

While I was feeding Enzo during game three of the NBA Finals, he calmly de-latched and directed his attention to the remaining minute of the third quarter.

This kid is a winner!!

On my own

So last week, Jeff went back to work. Jeff (aka water fetcher, nursing pillow arranger, errand-runner, dinner-cooker, run-up-the-stairs-when-I-forget-something-er, etc. etc.). Even though I have been feeling better physically - my blood pressure finally has come down a bit and the headaches have begun to subside, so I'm hoping the fear of a stroke that the doc had given me is now a moot point - I'm trying to take it easy. I was directed to not lift anything heavier than Enzo for six, count 'em, six weeks. No laundry, no vacuuming, no grocery shopping, no exercising, etc. Ugh, can you say stir crazy? So last week, my sisters, Josie and Claire, answered the call. So, I wasn't really on my own.

Today, however, was my first day as a full-time mommy. No one to hold Enzo when nature called, no one to hand me the phone as it rang off the hook - of course, only when I was nursing. I made it through - and I even had dinner ready when Jeff came home (don't tell Doc). We're all in one piece. And I kinda liked it.

That could be us

This week has been a bit rough. I returned to work and AJ has been a trooper pulling double shifts with Enzo. She has been gratious enough to let me sleep so I can get back to work less tired.

It was just not that long ago when we used to watch the reality show 'Intervention' on A&E and thank our lucky stars that we did not have those types of problems.
Now we are watching TLC's 'Jon & Kate plus 8' and thank our lucky stars that we do not have those types of problems even when Enzo is having a bad night. Being a parent does shift your perspective of reality tv.
