Dust to dust....

Lent began today and so Enzo and I went to Mass for the distribution of ashes. As the minister of ashes traced a cross onto Enzo's head, he says "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Be absolved of your sins -- you don't have any sins." It was kind of funny.
In honor of Lent, and the preparation of Christ's Resurrection, Enzo is giving up crying for no reason. And breaching the containment of his diaper. And laying lazily while other kids scurry and crawl around him at Gymboree.

1st Monthly Family Fun Night

After the recent passing of my Great Aunt Sophie, the realization that life is too short, and that too much time passes without getting family together forced me to begin a new tradition. Since Jeff and I can make friends a priority at least once a month with Supper Club, then surely we can get family together once a month for Family Fun Night! We had to keep adding more chairs and another table so we could all break bread together. I think this is the beginning of something great! For family reading this, where will you be on the last Sunday of the month at 5 pm?!

Enzo Got a Cousin!

We got word that Jeff's sister Briana and her husband Jared delivered a healthy (and 3 week early) baby boy named Lukas Aidan. He weighed in at 6 lbs. and 4 oz. and was 18" long on February 15.

As we hopped in the car on our way to the hospital, the rain stopped, the sun came out and this rainbow appeared as we backed out of the garage. What a special day!

Since Enzo wasn't allowed in the room to meet his very first cousin, we waited until Lukas came home, we brought over dinner, and hung out getting to know sleeping Lukas.

Enzo also had an experience of cuddling with a dog that didn't try to steamroll him.

L..M..U..UUUUU

Our friends Mike and Gigi invited us to be their guests at the LMU basketball game. It was great going back to see the Lions play. And, bonus, a few friends were being honored at half-time as the newest inductees into LMU's hall of fame - Ryan Eisberg (water polo) and Sarah Noriega (volleyball). Congrats!!

At first, the buzzers, whistles, clapping, yelling, sneakers squeaking, cheerleaders, band playing -- was a bit too much and Enzo wasn't dealing well. With a lot of cuddling, by the 2nd half, he was into the game and liking it.

Superbowl Party

Even though we really didn't care who won the Superbowl this year, we had some family over to celebrate the game, and Jeff's actual birthday.

You can see that Enzo, suited up in his football jersey (number 63 in honor of cousin Scott's jersey number when he played for the Cal Bears), was actually watching the game.

He had some snuggle time with Great Nana and Great Grumpy.

He also played with his toys and we all watched the game.
